There are several absolutely wonderful museums nearby for a great ½ day excursion, not to mention a wonderful walking tour through the White Bird Battlefield on the edge of town, where the start of the Nez Perce war began. White Bird, ID is the closest access to the heart of Hells Canyon and the deepest gorge in North America. White Bird is located 16 miles south of Grangeville and 30 north of Riggins, Idaho. | |||

From ID State Highway 95, take the White Bird exit (approx Exit #223). Go approximately 1/4 mile and turn left at the stop sign. Go less than 1/2 block and turn right on Bridge Street (directly in front of the White Bird Motel). Park entrance is 100 feet on the right side of the road. | |||
